Many organizations in which I have had the good fortune of working with as a leadership coach realize that the traditional model of leadership no longer provides the tools needed to succeed in today’s complex and dynamic global marketplace. Leadership coaching allows organizations to adopt a more relational, collaborative and consultative model for leading and influencing team members.

The ability to coach leaders within the organization is a core competency that helps an organization to fully develop. Through coaching, management learns how to optimize the value of their team members. Leadership coaching helps clarify vision, beliefs and values, and stretches the capacity to lead and influence. Additionally, helping leadership to understand and embrace coaching techniques, gives them the tools needed to guide others to do the same. This allows them to become catalysts for change within their organizations.

Leadership coaching can take place in a variety of ways. On-site or teleconference coaching are excellent tools to create on-going follow up and leader accountability. However, leadership retreats are another tool that allows a leader to step outside of their normal environment to gain valuable clarity and focus.
